Light up a Life is your chance to remember and celebrate the people who have brought love, laughter and light into your life.
By dedicating a star and making a donation in memory of someone special, you’ll be helping local families access specialist end of life and palliative care when they need it most.
You will also have the option for your loved one’s name to be included in our book of remembrance, which will be displayed at both sites all year round.
You’re also warmly invited to join us at one of our Light up a Life remembrance services this December. Whether Birmingham Hospice cared for your loved one or not, everyone is welcome.
Only dedications received on or before Tuesday 1 December will be included at our services and featured in the book of remembrance.
The care every family deserves
Aimee’s dad, Paul, was cared for by Birmingham Hospice in the final weeks of his life. When he arrived at Birmingham Hospice, his family felt an immediate sense of relief.
The hospice team made sure Paul was comfortable and gave the family the space to focus on what mattered most: being together. Friends could visit, family could stay close, and precious memories could still be made.
“It meant we could continue being a family with Dad for those two precious weeks at the hospice”, remembers Aimee.
For Aimee and her family, those moments became memories they will always treasure.
By dedicating a memory star and making a donation through Light up a Life, you’ll help ensure other local families, like Aimee’s, receive the same expert care, comfort and support when they need it most.
Your donation will help make every moment matter.
Every day, local families rely on us for expert nursing care, pain management, emotional support and bereavement services. But Birmingham Hospice is only partly funded by the NHS, and costs are continuing to rise.
This Christmas, your support can help ensure that people facing the end of life receive the comfort, dignity and compassionate care they deserve.
£30 could pay for pain relief medication for patients across our services each day.
£60 could pay for a specialist bereavement support session to help families through the journey of grief.
£102 could pay for a nurse to visit a patient in their home so they can be cared for in the place of their choice.

Yes!
Each event will offer songs, readings, the lighting of the tree and the opportunity to celebrate with mince pies and hot drinks.
The services begin at 6.45pm but you can arrive from 6pm when we open our doors. We expect the services to last approximately 45 minutes.
We would love for you to join us. You do not need to have a connection to the hospice to attend. Everyone (including children) is welcome to join no matter their age, personal beliefs or journey through grief.
There is adequate parking on-site and in the neighbouring streets, though please be mindful of residents.
There is very limited parking at Birmingham Hospice – Selly Park. There is free on-road parking nearby, however, these spaces fill quickly. Please be mindful of our local residents when parking and consider using public transport where possible.
