A new way to recognise our wonderful nurses

Birmingham Hospice first in the West Midlands to launch DAISY Awards

Kellie Lennon, Director of Clinical Services

DAISY FAQS

The DAISY Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the autoimmune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalisation, the family experienced exceptional care from nurses and wanted to publicly express gratitude for the dedication and compassion nurses provide daily.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition programme It provides patients, families, carers and colleagues with an opportunity to recognise nurses who have made a meaningful difference to their care experience.

Any registered nurse working within the hospice can be nominated for a DAISY Award.

Patients, families, carers, and members of the public can all submit a DAISY Award nomination.

DAISY Award nominations can be completed either in a paper format or online on the Birmingham Hospice website. DAISY patient information posters and stickers for patient information packs will include a QR code that will take them directly to the website. Paper forms are available at the Nurses stations on the In-Patient Units (IPU) or via reception. There will be post boxes for completed nominations. Forms can also be emailed to us at marketing@birminghamhospice.org.uk
