View our accreditation.

Birmingham Hospice has received the Investors in Diversity accreditation in recognition of its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. The award, given out by the National Centre for Diversity, is acknowledged as the national standard for equality.

It provides organisations with a bespoke approach for improving Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement (FREDIE) practices in the workplace.

We support the national Freedom to Speak Up campaign and encourage employees to raise any comments or concerns they may have. We have a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian and a range of Freedom to Speak Up Champions who are available to support. We are proud that 95% of respondents from our latest staff survey said that if they had any concerns, they would know how to report it.

We undertake Equality and Diversity Monitoring to collect, store and analyse data about the ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion and beliefs of our workforce; also known as protected characteristics.

The information you are asked to provide will help us to assess how accessible we are as an employer so that people from all backgrounds have a fair opportunity to be represented in our workforce.

We are committed to developing a diverse workforce that is representative of the patient population we serve. The information you provide us with will assist us in assessing how the charity is performing overall, in terms of equality. The process is confidential and your data is not shared with any third party.

Birmingham Hospice is committed to the fair treatment of staff and potential staff, regardless of age, race, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, responsibilities for dependents, physical or mental disability, marriage and civil partnership or offending background.
