  • Professional Days

    We want to share the knowledge we have gained after 40 years of delivering excellent, quality hospice care and have a duty to provide education. It’s important that we continue to dedicate our time to educate the current and future health and social care professionals.

    So our professional days are aimed at these professionals who are seeking to be exposed to hospice services and spend time with our specialised members of staff.

    A typical professional day…*

    9.00am: Arrive

    9.00am – 9.15am: Introductions and setting individual objectives for the visit

    9.15am – 10.15am: Hospice tour

    10.15am – 10.30am: Light refreshments and networking

    10.30am – 11.30am: Meet the team

    • Clinical nurse specialist  – Community team
    • Inpatient nursing team
    • Palliative care doctor
    • Physiotherapist
    • Occupational therapist
    • Social worker

    11.30am – 12.30pm: ‘Ask it Basket’, ‘Questions and Answers’ session with the team, time to reflect on objectives

    12.30pm: End of session

    Cost: £40 per person

  • Clinical Placements

    In an effort to reduce footfall into the hospice (in response to Covid), all Clinical Placements are currently on hold.

    Please check back here for further updates.

  • Student Placements

    Facilitated by members of our clinical team, our placement opportunities give student healthcare professionals the chance to explore the range of services we offer (including a tour of the Hospice).

    Please note: Placements are only available through Universities that we have an existing Service Level Agreement in place with.  Please check with your Clinical Placement Coordinator to find out more and express your interest.  Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer placements outside of SLAs (including elective placements).

  • Summer School

    Please note: registration is currently closed due to Covid.  Please check back in May 2021 for an update.

    When we are back up and running, our Summer School is free to attend, lasting a single day and aimed at 16-18 year olds who are keen to learn more about what it is like to work in a hospice/healthcare professional setting.

    You will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions with:

    • Doctors
    • Nurses
    • Physiotherapists
    • Occupational therapists
    • Social workers

    Activities will include:

    • An introduction to hospice life
    • Hospice tour
    • Hospice myth busting
    • A day in the life of a healthcare professional
    • A patient and carer’s story

    Learning will be delivered in a creative and professional environment by trained and experienced facilitators.
