Birmingham’s Rainbow Rush

Join us on Saturday 21 September when we’ll be taking over Cofton Park for a day filled with a kaleidoscope of colour, music and laughter.

The most colourful fun run in Brum is back!

Welcome to Birmingham’s Rainbow Rush – the most colourful fun run in Brum you’ll ever experience!

On Saturday 21 September 2024, we’ll be taking over Cofton Park for a day filled with a kaleidoscope of colour, foam, dance zones, inflatables, music and laughter all in support of Birmingham Hospice.

Get ready to be doused in a rainbow of colours as you journey through a 5km fun-filled course. On the big day, you can arrive from 9.30am to soak up the vibrant atmosphere and enjoy live music, delicious food, face-painting and photo opportunities, before we start our Zumba-style warm-up and kick off the event with a paint throw from 11am.

On the course, you’ll pass through colour and fun stations before sliding your way to the finish line where you can collect your medal and celebrate!

Together, we can paint the town with colour, love, laughter and support for Birmingham Hospice, and make every moment matter for local people living with a terminal illness.

FAQs

Birmingham Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with a terminal diagnosis, and their families. Our mission is, and always will be, to help people from all communities access the care of their choice at the end of life.

Today and every day, more than 1000 people and their families will receive the care and support they need from Birmingham Hospice – but this is only possible because of people like you raising money and taking part in events like Rainbow Rush.

Your registration fee covers the cost of putting on this special event, but getting sponsored is what really makes a difference. There’s no minimum sponsorship for this event, but every penny you can raise makes a difference. £20 could pay for a teddy bear for a child with a recording of their parent’s voice inside, to treasure forever.

You’ll be sent a Rainbow Rush Event Guide packed full of fun fundraising ideas, and the Birmingham Hospice Events Team will be with you every step of the way with support, advice and materials.

There is no minimum or maximum age limit for participants in this event, but due to its nature, we recommend it is most suitable for over fives. Under 16s must be registered and accompanied by an adult at all times. Your family and friends (including your furry ones!) are more than welcome to come and watch you participate in the event but must register and have a runner number to take part.

Due to the event taking place entirely on grass with some steep-ish hills, the Rainbow Rush may be challenging for pushchair and wheelchair users. However, we welcome everyone at the event! If you need assistance, you’re free to bring a carer or aide with you to the event free of charge; please just inform the Events Team at the registration tent on the day. If you are pregnant or have any health issues, we advise you consult your doctor before signing up to the event.

Parking instructions will be confirmed nearer the time and details sent via email in your pre-event information.

The Rainbow Rush course will be packed full of colour-paint stations, a foam and dance tunnel, music, slides and other fun surprises. The course takes place entirely on grass across Cofton Park. Due to this, we reserve the right to make changes to the number and range of activities, depending on the terrain, weather and other circumstances to ensure your safety. However, we endeavour to make the event as fun as possible, come rain or shine!

Please note, part of the course is on a steep-ish hill. For more information about this, please contact the Events Team using the details below.

Smoking is strictly prohibited within the event arena.

There are four paint stations across the route. The paint being thrown is made from dyed natural pigments and is not regarded as a health or environmental hazard under current legislation. If you have any allergies or concerns, please contact the Events Team using the details below. The paint can be dusted off after the event and will wash off after a shower (or two, depending on how colourful you get!). Foam can be an irritant, so we’d advise having a shower after the event. We make every effort to ensure paint doesn’t stain, but can’t guarantee this, so we’d recommend you wear old clothes and avoid getting it on other surfaces (e.g., car seats) just in case. It might also be a good idea to bring a change of clothes with you to change into for your journey home.

Don’t forget to order your Rainbow Rush t-shirt to wear with pride on the day!

You will get wet running through the foam tunnel so may wish to bring a towel and have a change of clothes available.
