Following the government’s guidance, we are still going ahead with Ride the Reservoir on Sunday. If this changes we’ll be in touch with all participants via email but we’re confident it won’t change at this stage. We’re all ready for the day and can’t wait to cheer on all of our cyclists!

You can register on the day, however, please note places are limited and we are likely to sell out! Tickets can be purchased from the “new registration” desk located outside in the school car park from 8.00am.

Sunday 15th March 2020

Ride the Reservoir is back for 2020 with our famous 75km route PLUS two new routes!

This looks set to be our biggest Ride the Reservoir yet, welcoming families, beginner cyclists and more experienced riders.

Chose your preferred route:

  • NEW Beginner Route – Approx 25KM
  • Intermediate Route – 75KM
  • NEW Pro Route – Approx 100KM

NEW Beginner Route – 25KM

A beginner friendly route new for 2020. Starting from King Edward VI Five Ways in Bartley Green the route will lead you through Weoley Castle and onto Bournville before joining the River Rea Cycle route. You’ll then take in some of Cannon Hill Park and continue onto Woodgate Valley Country Park before returning back for some well-deserved snacks! The route is suitable for beginner cyclists, children over 10 who have completed their cycling proficiency test and teenagers who have experience of riding on cycle paths and are confident on roads and in moderate traffic. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Riders need to observe the Highway Code and only cross roads when the traffic crossings allow cycles to cross.

All participants will benefit from:

  • Free car parking
  • Comprehensively sign posted route with marshal support
  • Medical support
  • Free post cycle drinks and snacks
  • Certificate and Gift

Intermediate Route – 75KM

Our 75km hilly route is a pleasure sportive designed to ease keen cyclists into the new season.

The original Ride the Reservoir Route, starting in Bartley Green and extending into the Worcestershire countryside, the route meanders through scenic villages such as Romsley, Belbroughton, Chaddesley Corbett, Dodford and Barnt Green. After just 5km you will be presented with Romsley Hill, a 4km hill climb designed to warm up our cyclists. The route goes out as far as Stoke Prior before heading back into the South Birmingham suburbs via the Lickey Hills where you will face another challenging hill climb. As the sail boats come back into view at Bartley Green Reservoir participants take on the final stretch towards the finish line.

Please could you pass on my appreciation to all the volunteers that made the Ride the Reservoir cycle ride such a brilliant event?  I personally found the route superbly marked, the marshals were all visible and the feed station refreshments were very welcome.  It was probably the best sportive I have ever ridden and certainly the best organised” – Ride the Reservoir cyclist
