Chinese Community Centre Birmingham raises £2,700 for local hospice

The Chinese Community Centre Birmingham has presented a cheque for £2,700 to their local hospice Birmingham St Mary’s raised during their exciting 40th Anniversary celebrations last June.

The two organisations, who both have a shared aim to provide support and care to individuals and their families in the Birmingham and Sandwell area, joined together at Aston Villa Football Club to celebrate the anniversary milestone  whilst also raising awareness and funds for both charities.

The celebratory event included a 4 course Chinese banquet, auction, traditional Lion and Dragon Dances and a raffle with the winning prize being a flight to Hong Kong. VIP guests included the Mayor of Birmingham, CEO of Birmingham St Mary’s Tina Swani and representatives from the Chinese Embassy, London.

 

Anna Yim, CEO of CCCB said ‘We at the Chinese Community Centre-Birmingham are very proud to have raised over £2,700 at our 40th Anniversary celebrations for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice. We look forward to continue working in partnership with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice in the near future including holding an education talk at their monthly health forum’.

Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice provides 24 hour specialist palliative care, support and advice in a variety of settings including care homes. The Hospice runs outpatient clinics at the Hospice and in a range of health centres across Birmingham for people needing medical and nursing support.

We have built a close relationship with the centre and will continue to work closely together for future projects to help educate Birmingham’s Chinese community about the Hospice services they can access free of charge.’
