Sophie honoured her mum Ann-Marie on her wedding day, while fundraising for Birmingham Hospice in her memory.

She told us: “My wonderful mum Ann-Marie died in Birmingham Hospice in 2021 and received excellent care there. When planning our wedding, my fiancé Lloyd and I wanted a way to remember her. We felt that we had all we needed, so instead of gifts we asked for donations to the hospice via a JustGiving page.
“We also included other touches to remember Mum, like getting married at her old college, forget-me-nots and sweet peas (which she used to grow) in my bouquet, wearing a locket with her picture in, and mentioning her in the ceremony and speeches. On our honeymoon, we had photos taken in our wedding clothes at the beach in Scotland where we scattered her ashes. It was so hard not to have her there to celebrate with us, but she was there in spirit!
“Thanks to the generosity of family and friends, we have raised over £2,000 including Gift Aid. We wish more than anything that Mum was still with us, but fundraising this way gives us great comfort thinking of other families who might be helped by this.”
The amazing amount Sophie and Lloyd raised could help to fund three days of nursing support in one of our Inpatient Units, offering specialist care from our team of clinical and medical experts.
