Birmingham St Mary’s ‘Spring Raffle’ is back and this year, players can win up to £1,000 whilst showing their support for their local hospice.

With tickets costing just £1, the raffle is a fantastic opportunity to make a big difference to your life, as well as the lives of local people living with a life-limiting illness.

There are three prizes to be won – with £1,000 as the first prize, £500 as second, and £100 as third.

Tickets are on sale now until Wednesday 18 April, with the winning ticket to be drawn on Saturday 28 April. They can be bought online via the hospice’s website or at one of its 16 shops across Birmingham.

Nurses at the Selly Park-based charity have been supporting the raffle by sharing what they would buy with the top prize. Rachel Shuttleworth, who is a triage nurse at the hospice, said: “With £1,000, I would definitely go and visit my sister in Australia. She’s been living there for a few months now but I’ve not had chance to travel there yet – so it would be lovely to use the money to spend time with her in the sun.”

Emma Donovan, sister at Birmingham St Mary’s, said: “If I won the top prize, I would spend the money on making memories with family and friends. It would be fantastic to explore new places and go on some great adventures.”

Last year, the raffle raised over £7,000 for Birmingham St Mary’s, which provides vital care and support at the hospice, in people’s homes, and in the local community. It costs £8 million to run the hospice each year, so it truly relies on the generosity of local people to fund its crucial services.
