Legendary actor David Bradley visits Birmingham Hospice

21 August 2026

Spreading a little magic throughout our hospice!

Legendary actor of stage and screen David Bradley met patients, family members and staff during a visit of our Selly Park site.

David, who is best known for playing Argus Filch in Harry Potter and Walder Frey in Game of Thrones, learned all about our specialist end of life and palliative care for those with life-limiting conditions.

He spoke with members of our Children’s Healing and Therapeutic Support (CHATS) Team to find out how they help young people affected by bereavement. David also learned about our Specialist Palliative Urgent Response (SPUR) service, which provides urgent care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The cinema and TV legend sprinkled stardust during a tour of our Inpatient Unit and newly refurbished Family Centre, where he chatted with our compassionate clinical staff and made family members feel at ease. He also cast a spell over the patients in our Living Well Centre.

David also gained a greater understanding of how our hospice must raise £8 million this year through donations, fundraising and our shops, to fund our care for local people.

Thank you so much for your amazing support, David – see you soon!
