So far this year, Hiten Patel has taken part in an incredible six half-marathons, including the Birmingham Running Festival twice, in which he donated to Birmingham Hospice.
Birmingham Running Festival is a series of running events between February and September, organised by Run Through, and this year, we are their charity partner.
Hiten has chosen to take part as he loves running and is a fitness advocate. He said: “I began running three to four times a week in Sandwell Valley Park during the Covid-19 lockdown just to keep fit.
“The sole purpose of me running is not about the medals or recognition. For me running is about helping people less fortunate than I, so I make donations when I can afford to do so.”
Hiten has another seven half-marathons planned between May and October. In order to maintain his fitness level, he shared: “I currently run three days a week – one short run, one medium run and one long run. Plus, I strength train six days a week.
“I hope my running story will inspire someone else to go for a run or walk. No matter what’s going on in life, I believe there’s always a reason to put one foot in front of the other.”
Birmingham Running Festival takes place at Sutton Park with a half-marathon, 10k, 5k or junior race to choose from. Runners are welcome to sign up with a charity place of their own and, like Hiten, join us to raise vital funds for local people living with a terminal diagnosis.
