Top Brummie bosses are giving staff the chance to gunge them in chocolate this October – but it’s all in the name of charity.
The countdown is on for business leaders who will be taking part in Birmingham St Mary’s ‘Chocolate Gunge Tank’, which allows employees to cover them from head to toe in the tasty treat.
Taking place at Brindleyplace’s ‘Chocival’ – the city’s first chocolate themed festival – the Chocolate Gunge Tank not only allows staff to gunge their boss, but each person that sponsors is also in with a chance of pulling the lever.
All sponsorship will go towards Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice – one of Brindleyplace’s charity partners – which provides vital care and support to local families living with terminal illness.
Carl Potter, senior director at commercial property management company, GVA, is just one of 27 bosses that will be taking the plunge. He said: “With just a few weeks to go, colleagues and I are already counting down to when I get gunged. Whilst I’ve never done anything like this before, I thought it would be a good-natured, fun way of encouraging employees to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
Alongside GVA, representatives from EY, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Xoserve, Lloyds and many more will also be taking the plunge for charity.
Charlotte Anson, corporate partnerships manager at Birmingham St Mary’s, said: “It’s fantastic to see some of Birmingham’s biggest bosses, such as Carl, uniting for our Chocolate Gunge Tank. Carl has been a great sport so far and I welcome as many people to come down and catch him during his moment of glory.”
“I would like to thank all the bosses that have signed up so far, as well as the staff that have got behind them and sponsored. It costs £22,000 to run our services each day and so every donation really does make a difference. All sponsorship money will go towards the Hospice, helping us reach even more individuals, families and carers living across Birmingham and Sandwell.”
Nathan Sanghera, marketing and events executive at Brindleyplace, added: “It’s fantastic to see some of Birmingham’s biggest bosses get involved and sign up for the Chocolate Gunge Tank at this year’s Chocival. There’s going to be lots to see and do on the day – even if you’re not pulling a lever – so make sure you come down to Brindleyplace to join in the fun and help us raise money for a great cause.”
The Chocolate Gunge Tank will be at Brindleyplace’s Chocival from Friday 20 October (3pm to 5pm) to Saturday 21 October (11am to 3pm). If you would like to sponsor Carl Potter, head to his Just Giving page.
