Generous staff at ‘Beauty As’ salon in Longbridge have been raising vital funds for Birmingham St Mary’s this month, to help support more local people living with life-limiting illness.

The glamorous group have called on the support of their customers and together, they have raised an impressive £1,400 for the hospice so fa

Owner Sally Parsons, who inspired Beauty As’ fundraising, said: “My Nan was diagnosed with terminal cancer two years ago and it was always her wish that when the time came she would be admitted to Birmingham St Mary’s. Fortunately, we were able to make this happen and my Nan sadly passed away on 23rd April.

“To celebrate the life of my Nan, we at Beauty As are raising money for the hospice throughout May. As well as asking for donations, we are holding a raffle which will be drawn at the end of the month. We want to help raise as much money as possible for such an amazing charity.”

The big-hearted team have been running a raffle, as well as asking for contributions from their customers. All funds raised will help Birmingham St Mary’s continue to provide expert end of care to people and their loved ones, wherever and whenever they need it.

Lucy Watkins, head of fundraising at Birmingham St Mary’s, said: “Every day, Birmingham St Mary’s cares for 350 people – whether that’s at the hospice, in people’s own homes or in the community. It costs £8 million a year to run  our vital services – over half of which need to come from voluntary donations – so we truly rely on the generous support of people like Sally and her team to ensure we can continue to care for even more local people living with life-limiting illness.’
