Your donation could support people like Fran

Fiona, whose best friend Fran was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, said “their world changed in an instant.”

Thanks to the compassionate care of Birmingham Hospice, Fran was supported both at home and in the hospice’s Inpatient Unit to help manage her pain and symptoms.

Fiona said: “Their team ensured Fran could be comfortable, laugh with her nurses, and be herself – always with her wonderful sense of humour shining through.

“Fran’s nurses, Elizabeth and Karen, weren’t just nursing professionals, they became part of her world. Fran would tell us how much she laughed with them, and that was so important to her. One nurse even came to the house on the day of Fran’s funeral – a small but unforgettable act of kindness that meant everything to us.”

Being able to support someone to stay in the place they feel safest, often their own home, is incredibly important. What stays with me most are the relationships we build with patients and their families or loved ones, who open up to us during some of the most difficult times of their lives – it is a privilege and one I never take lightly. Enter our Spring Raffle to help me and my teams be there for more people.
