Brave Brummies are being challenged to complete an exhilarating ‘loop the loop’ this summer, whilst raising crucial funds for a local charity.
Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is calling on adrenaline junkies to spin, roll and cloud hop their way through the sky at a unique event on Saturday 5 August at Wellesbourne Airfield.
With the aid of a personal pilot, thrill-seekers will perform an array of aerial acrobatics in a RAF Slingsby Firefly – with the most daring being able to take charge and fly the plane themselves.
Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice – which provides expert care and support to families living with terminal illness – is the only charity in Birmingham to be offering this one-of-a-kind experience. Its services are free of charge to all patients and their relatives, and so relies on the generosity of local people to help fund its vital care.
Lucy Watkins, events manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “Taking to the sky and performing a loop the loop is the ultimate challenge for adventurous Brummies. Not only will they perform movie-style manoeuvres, but every penny raised will help us to help others.
“It costs £22,000 to run our Hospice each day and so we truly value the support of our local community to help keep our services going. All sponsorship money raised from this event will allow us to continue to provide the care and support we offer to individuals, their families, and their carers.”
