On Saturday 22nd July, two of Birmingham’s oldest charities will team up to launch a brand new fundraising event to raise money for their causes.

Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and St Basils are joining forces to host the inaugural “Sunset Squad Relay” this July. This exciting event is the first of its kind to be held in Birmingham. On the day, teams of 4-6 participants will challenge themselves to run as many 5k laps around Cofton Park as possible.

There is just one question. Do you and your team have the stamina to keep on going?

But that isn’t all. The day will cater for participant’s friends and family too by having live music, food, and games for everyone who comes along to show their support.

Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils, said: “We are delighted to be working with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice on this event.  We love working in partnership and this is an example of two of Birmingham’s most important organisations working together to make our city better for all.  It is going to be a fantastic event and we can’t wait to welcome everyone taking part.  ”

Lucy Watkins, Events Manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice added, “This promises to be a really exciting yet challenging event for all participants. We’re looking for teams who think they can go the distance both physically and by raising vital funds for two amazing causes.  We have prizes available for the squad who completes the most laps and for the runner who completes the fastest laps, plus a commemorative medal for everyone who takes part”.

Tickets for this event are now on sale.   For more information on how to sign up please visit www.sunsetsquadrelay.eventbrite.co.uk
