Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is pleased to announce that its Treecycling scheme has successfully raised record amounts in 2014.
Now in its third year the venture, which saw collaborations between Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, local businesses and Birmingham City Council, has almost doubled last year’s fundraising total, collecting over £5,055 in funds to support the hospice.
After making a donation to the Hospice residents had their tree collected by volunteers from Altek Midlands Environmental Services, Fitzgerald and Mott MacDonald. The trees were then recycled at local recycling centres.

It was great to see a group of volunteers who were eager to help an excellent cause, there was a great spirit on the day with everybody wanting to help and happy to be there. I’d like to thank all the staff of Fitzgerald who volunteered and the St Marys staff for their hard work in making the day run smoothly and efficiently”
Amy Moore, Community Fundraiser for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice said: “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the scheme; we would not have been able to raise this record amount without the help of our volunteers, Birmingham City Council and Veolia. This year we collected over 450 trees which is 200 more than last year. It is exciting to see the scheme growing year on year and we hope to see even more people taking part when Treecycling returns”
Treecycling will return this year, which will also see the 35th Anniversary of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.
