Ready Steady Bake!

22 January 2014

On the 5th March 2014, it is Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice’s 35th anniversary.  To celebrate 35 years of hospice care and to raise funds for the future of our services, people across Birmingham are whipping up their favourite recipes during March.

A bake sale is the perfect reason to bring your friends and family together, have a good catch up and enjoy some cake! The hospice has put together a guide packed full of lots of exciting tips, recipes and templates to help people across Birmingham and Sandwell make their bake sale a success.

Sarah Barber, Fundraising Projects Officer says:

“Ready Steady Bake is a fun and simple way for people to support their local hospice. The money raised from this campaign will help support local people who are dealing with terminal illness in Birmingham and Sandwell, people like Beth and Warren.”

Beth started supporting the hospice after her husband Warren lost his life to a brain tumour in 2012. Warren was only 32 when he died.

“I genuinely don’t know what we would have done without the hospice” says Beth. “It was so hard being a carer on my own with our family living far away. As well as receiving excellent medical care we felt completely supported emotionally. We were no longer just a patient and his partner, we were Warren and Beth.”

Beth is encouraging people to support Ready Steady Bake:

Please join me and hold a bake-off. It’s a simple but fun way to support your local hospice, and all the money you raise will make a huge difference to ordinary people like me and Warren”.
