This #HospiceCareWeek we hear Pam’s story.
Pam Wootton has been attending a variety of sessions at our Living Well Centre for many years to help her cope with her chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and to enable her to socialise with others who face similar challenges.
She explains why she loves visiting the hospice each week, and how much the social sessions have helped her over the years.
“A nurse who used to come to my house to check up on me many years ago suggested I attend the day service to meet other people with similar experiences,” she said.
“I started coming, and it was amazing. You don’t feel like you are the odd one out when you are there with the others, all talking. Everybody in the group feels its somewhere nice to come where you don’t worry about things, you just have a laugh.”
