Earlier this month, local football team Oldbury Warriors joined together to do something amazing for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice. The team of over 22 children have been collecting lots of chocolatey treats over the last few weeks and were delighted to deliver an incredible 40 Easter eggs to the Hospice, for us to give to patients and families currently receiving care. Making for an egg-cellent surprise this Easter.
Adam Crandon the team’s coach and mentor who has helped the team and their families join together to support the Hospice said ‘It’s so important for the children to understand what a Hospice does, and I’m so glad we’re helping a local charity and giving back to our community.’
‘The team had such lovely visit on Sunday and the response that I received from parents and children just amazed me. Knowing there were a few more smiles this Easter means more to us than anything and we’re looking forward to working in partnership with the Hospice for the foreseeable future.’
Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is an independent adult hospice providing free end of life care and support for over 1,200 individuals and their families, carers and loved ones across Birmingham and Sandwell. Emily Boate, Community Fundraiser said “It costs over £8 million per year to run the Hospice services, and at any one time we’re caring for over 350 people in our community so having support from people like Adam and The Oldbury Warriors makes such a huge difference. We are so grateful to have their support and look forward to working together again in the future.
