Nigel: Our Weoley Castle Trooper

17 February 2017

We have 16 charity shops across the region that raise vital funds for the Hospice but we wouldn’t be able to do any of it without an amazing group of volunteers to support each shop. Here at Birmingham St Mary’s, we’re very thankful to have such loyal supporters who give up their time to support the Hospice.

So here is Scott, our Weoley Castle shop manager, to introduce one of his volunteers…

Nigel is one of my volunteers, who is very positive and upbeat and always has a smile on his face. He’s always willing to work over when he sees that I’m very busy, and the customers like him and enjoy his table top sales. Nigel is also very popular with the other volunteers.

Nigel lives in supported accommodation and suffers from high blood pressure and has a minor learning difficulty but he overcomes all of this and doesn’t let it affect him in the work he does for the Hospice or in his everyday life. It is nice that he can be recognised by the Hospice for all the good work he does.

Here is our interview with Nigel…
