As part of our Forget Me Not campaign, Debbie wanted to share her mom’s story…
I dedicate this flower in remembrance of my mom, Sandra Smith, who sadly passed away at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice on 11th March 2012, after battling cancer for a number of years. She spent her last 10 days there and during that time, received empathy, first class nursing and care.
As a family, we received amazing comfort, support and guidance which was also extended to everyone that visited her bedside during that time. Our gratitude is extended to the staff and volunteers who devoted their time to making an unbearable chapter of our lives, bearable.
Furthermore, the ongoing care given specifically to myself through the counselling services made available to me, enabled me to begin the painful process of moving forward after losing the ‘kingpin’ of our family.
She left behind her husband Phil, five children namely myself, Steven, Mark, Helen & Charlotte and their other halves plus grandchildren – George, James & William, Jade, Emily-Grace & Charlie, Jack, Katie, Lizzie & Robbie and Sam & Ben – we all miss her dearly but her memories will continue in our minds and hearts.
So this dedication is made to an amazing wife, mother and nan who remains in our thoughts forever.
Your loving eldest daughter, Debbie xxx
