A local lorry driver has completed a gruelling 250-mile bike ride, raising over £4,000 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.

Adrian Kinsella used his incredible pedal power to cycle from London to Paris last month – a trip which took just four days to complete.

The daring adventurer decided to swap his steering wheel for a saddle to help raise vital funds in memory of his brother Trevor, who was cared for at our hospice whilst battling throat cancer.

To thank Adrian for his remarkable fundraising efforts, we got together with his employer – the Walsall-based SPV Group – to present him with a trophy and the prestigious ‘Employee of the Month’ certificate.

Lucy Watkins, our events manager, said: “Adrian really has gone the extra mile to help raise crucial funds for our hospice. He did an amazing job in cycling from London to Paris and we know his family, friends and work colleagues are incredibly proud of his efforts.

“All of the services we provide at the hospice are free of charge to individuals and their families and so rely on our generous supporters – like Adrian – to help us to help others. From everyone at Birmingham St Mary’s, we would like to thank Adrian for taking on this challenge and for raising a fantastic amount of money.”

In addition to his London to Paris cycle, Adrian has completed a number of other events, including fun runs, to help raise funds for us.
