More than 150 pupils and staff spent every morning of the school’s charity fortnight making their way around the grounds to complete a charity half or full marathon in aid of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice. Together the dedicated pupils ran 3,145 miles which is the distance from Solihull to Montreal in Canada.
The pupils also joined together to run their own charity stalls, cake sales, sponsored spellings, and it all culminated with a ‘5p Fair’ led by the Year 6 pupils who also ran mini-stalls.
In total, the school raised a whopping £8,249 for the Hospice!
Deputy Headteacher, Jodie Hales said, The atmosphere in the school has been amazing and we could not be more proud of our whole school community for raising this huge sum of money.”
Jenny Chin, Community Fundraiser from Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said, “We are thrilled with the generous donation Dorridge Primary School has given to the Hospice. It was a delight to see how involved each and every pupil was in supporting the Hospice, their brilliant fundraising efforts could help pay for 10 days of palliative care from our doctors and nurses in our inpatient unit.”
