Performers on stilts, magicians, jugglers, fire blowers, hoop performers and storytellers will take people on a magical journey through the city at Birmingham St Mary’s first Enchanted Midsummer Walk on Saturday June 18. The event aims to raise more than £25,000 for the Hospice through registration and sponsorship and forms part of the Hospice’s diverse schedule of fundraising events in 2016.

Perfect for friends, families and colleagues the 10km round trip starting at King Edward VI School for Girls will take walkers on a leisurely tour through leafy Edgbaston, Harborne and Selly Oak before crossing the finish line, where they will be welcomed by musical entertainment, awarded a completion medal and treated to a well-deserved glass of bubbly or soft drink, a fairy cake and other goodies.

Halfway along the route participants will have the chance to pause, reflect and light a candle for lost loved ones at the Hospice.

Calthorpe Estates is the sponsor for the Enchanted Midsummer Walk alongside entertainment provision from Birmingham based Code Red Entertainment.

Lucy Watkins, Events Manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “This year we are ramping up our programme of activities and events and have already received huge support for our recent Ride the Reservoir and Chocolate Run challenges.

Our first Enchanted Midsummer Walk offers something new and fun for everyone taking part with its relaxed pace, captivating entertainment and a celebratory atmosphere. The sponsorship from Calthorpe Estates and backing from the performers at Code Red Entertainment will create a magical evening from start to finish and we hope that lots of people register to join us and raise vital funds for the hospice.”

Registration is now open to take part in the walk, where individuals or teams can begin raising sponsorship before the evening itself. To register or find out more information about walk, or other events on Birmingham St Mary’s jam packed 2016 calendar, visit https://www.birminghamhospice.org.uk.
