This March, Adam is joining other gaming fanatics to ‘Raise His Game’ in support of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice! Read his story to see why he’s taking on a 24-hour Gameathon for the Hospice’s new gaming campaign….
I will always have a special place in my heart for the Hospice as they cared for my Grandad, Michael Mckentee, during his final few months. They made every moment as enjoyable and comfortable as possible for him and my family. There was never anything too big or too small for them to make him feel special and well cared for.
So when I heard about ‘Raise Your Game’, I knew I wanted to get involved and support the Hospice. As a keen gamer, I have chosen to do a 24-hour Gameathon, which will involve hourly challenges and in-game challenges, such as reverse controls. I will also be playing different games throughout the challenge, from the much-loved zombie game ‘Fortnite’ to popular fighter game ‘Battlefield’.
I love gaming because it can be enjoyed by all age groups and brings people together from all backgrounds. I think that Raise Your Game will be a fantastic way to promote the Hospice on a mass scale in a really positive way! I enjoy console and PC gaming for numerous reasons, from the triumph you feel when you win a new challenge to making new friends or interacting with current ones in a different way.
For anyone who is thinking of taking on Raise Your Game, my top tips would be:
- Plan your challenge – Take the time to sit down and think of a gaming challenge that will push you but is still achievable
- Pick your games – Whether you go for a much-loved favourite or decide to take on a completely new game, remember to take yourself and the people watching you play on a fun adventure
- Have fun! – You’re probably taking on this challenge because you love gaming, so remember to enjoy the experience and be proud that you’re raising funds for such an incredible charity
I’m really looking to taking on Raise Your Game with as much fun and energy as possible, as well as trying to raise lots of money for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice. It’s going to be a big challenge but I hope you can join me too!
Join Adam this March by signing up to ‘Raise Your Game’. There are lots of ways you, your friends and family can get involved to make a difference to Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice through gaming!
