Birmingham Hospice is set to open its 23rd shop in the area with the latest addition in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield.
The new venture will offer employment and volunteering opportunities for local people and will complement the charity’s existing shops in Wylde Green, Erdington and Mere Green.
The shop will contribute to the £6.5 million the hospice needs to raise through fundraising this year.
Set to open on Boldmere Road in February 2025, the store will sell pre-loved and donated items from clothing, homeware, bric-a-brac, media and children’s clothes and toys.
Jonathan Varley, Head of Retail at Birmingham Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing a new Birmingham Hospice shop to Boldmere’s fantastic high street.
“With the Erdington hospice site only down the road, it’s the perfect place to open a new store and we’re excited to be part of an amazing local community.
“Our shop in Boldmere will be our 23rd retail outlet in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, with our recently opened store in Marston Green off to great start.
“We’ve seen real growth in our shops over the last year, with an increase in sales of 6.5% in November compared a decrease for high street retailers overall. The popularity of charity shopping, whether that for sustainable or fashion purposes, has become a sensation over the last few years, allowing us to open more shops.
“We plan to open another two by Spring, enabling us to raise even more money for the hospice and support local people living with a terminal diagnosis.”
Birmingham Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care to people living in Birmingham, Sandwell, Sutton Coldfield and Solihull.
Two paid positions have been created, for a Shop Manager and Relief Assistant Manager, and the charity will also take on around 40 regular volunteers including shop floor assistants, merchandisers, stock sorters and till operators.
