Patients, families and carers are now able to share their experiences of our services and care through an online user feedback platform called Care Opinion.
Care Opinion is an independent, non-profit platform which enables people to give feedback on their care and share their stories with others. It’s used by health and social care providers like us, to drive improvements in services based on people’s direct experiences.
We’ve signed up to the service so we can hear and learn from people’s experiences as told directly by them.
Esther Reilly, Deputy Nursing Director, said: “Patients – and their families and carers – are at the heart of everything we do at Birmingham St Mary’s and we want them to have the best experience of care they possibly can. We’ve signed up to Care Opinion to give people a simple and independent feedback channel through which they can tell their story. We want to hear not only about what has worked well, but also about the times when things could have been better. This will allow us to learn and improve our services.
Care Opinion is a totally confidential service so people can be confident their story is in safe hands and will be directed straight to the relevant team for a response.
I would really encourage people to use the platform and share their experience.”
Share your story
If you’ve experienced care from Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice over the past three years, whether it was good or could have been improved, please tell your story to help improve the service either via Care Opinion or via the Hospice website.
Care Opinion will treat your story confidentially. The only personal detail you have to share with them is your email address (which they will keep confidential). Once submitted, your story will appear with the user name you’ve created on the public website and your anonymity will remain protected at all time.
The Care Opinion platform complements the feedback questionnaires sent to anyone who uses any of Birmingham St Mary’s services.
