Zoom panel discussion and Q&A

Wednesday 13th May 2pm to 3.30pm on Zoom

During these unsettling times of Covid-19, many of us are having to confront death, dying and bereavement in ways we feel unprepared for. And if you’re receiving end of life care, now will be an especially difficult time for you and your loved ones.

Whether we want to help ourselves, our loved ones or the networks and communities we are part of – there will be many topics we need to find out about and questions we will want to ask.

As part of Dying Matters Week, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and John Taylor Hospice, together with BVSC and the Birmingham Council of Faiths, are hosting a Zoom panel discussion and Q&A, where you can meet End of Life care experts and share your thoughts and questions with them.

The panel members are contributors to the toolkit Hoping for the Best, Planning for the Worst*– an informative guide for individuals, families and communities during this uncertain time.

  • Sharon Hudson, Community Development and Partnerships Lead, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice
  • Dr Nadia Khan, Consultant in Palliative Care, John Taylor Hospice
  • Ruth Nelson, Personal Health Budgets End of Life Project Lead, BVSC
  • Dr Peter Rookes, Birmingham Council of Faiths

The discussion will take place via Zoom, the free videoconferencing tool. To take part in this thought-provoking and informative session, please register in advance by emailing: candy.passmore@birminghamhospice.org.uk

*Hoping for the Best, Planning for the Worst has been written jointly by Birmingham Hospices and BVSC’s PHB End of Life project. Dr Anna Lock Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and Sharon Hudson at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice are the leads for the piece, supported by Elizabeth Griffiths, Deputy Director of Public Health and Ruth Nelson.
