More than ever before, we need your support to keep the vital services of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice running. That’s why our chief executive, Tina Swani, is appealing for your support during these difficult and uncertain times.
Responding to the Covid-19 pandemic, our chief executive is urging you to #UniteForHospiceCare by raising funds or making donations – otherwise, we could be at risk of “cutting back services at a time when they are needed most”.
In the video below, Tina explains how our frontline staff are continuing to care for patients living with life-limiting illness, some of whom are extremely ill, vulnerable and have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
But we’re not just caring for our patients and their loved ones – we’re also working in partnership with GPs, District Nurses and our NHS colleagues to ensure more people get the care they deserve. Our health services are experiencing huge pressures at the moment, so it’s vital that we work together so that people don’t miss out on the care they need.
Heartbreakingly, at a time when people desperately need our services, we’re losing out on crucial funds. We’ve had to postpone fundraising events, community activities and corporate partnerships, as well as temporarily close the doors to all 17 of our shops. But our care hasn’t stopped.
This is why we urgently need your support. It costs £23,288 to run our vital services every day – nearly £14,000 of which needs to be raised through generous donations.
That’s why we’re asking you to take on of our virtual challenges, to help raise critical funds for our care. All challenges can be completed in your own time and in a place of your choosing – meaning they can be done safely and in line with government advice. Challenges include:
- 40 Mile March – a walking challenge in which you have to walk 40 miles across the month of April
- Ride 100 – a 100-mile cycle which you can complete in one go or spread the miles across April, May and June
- Chocolate 5k and 10k – our award-winning and hugely popular chocolate-themed run where you’ll be rewarded with a sweet treat
- Raise Your Game – a fun gaming challenge, in which you can play online games or board games to help raise funds for hospice care
Alternatively, you can make a donation online.
Thank you for your generous support during these difficult times. Together, we’ll ensure people and their loved ones can receive care and support at a time when they need it most.
