A local hospice which cares for terminally ill patients has received a cash boost of over £20,000 from NatWest.
The Commercial Banking Team at NatWest, based in St Philips Place, raised the total for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice through various fundraising events held across the region.
Over the past 18 months the Birmingham NatWest team has raised funds by hosting many events for their clients across the region, from golf days to wine tasting. The team has a history of supporting the Hospice, revamping the charity shops in Kings Norton and Cotteridge in 2014, providing a sustainability grant, support from clients and staff to take part in the Hospice’s retail challenge day.
The team has pledged to continue supporting the Selly Oak based Hospice this year. All future money raised will go towards developing the Hospice at Home service which is provided to patients who are at the end stage of their illness and have expressed a wish to die at home.
Kimberley O’Reilly, Senior Relationship Manager at NatWest said, “We are delighted with the efforts made by our colleagues in the Birmingham Commercial Team to raise these much needed funds for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, whose services make such an impact on our local community. We could not have achieved this without the help and support of our SME client base in Birmingham that have attended our events and donated their time and money so generously.”
It costs around £8million each year to run the Hospice which provides free care and support for terminally ill patients and their families across Birmingham and Sandwell.
Charlotte Anson, Corporate Relationships Manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We’re honoured to have received such a fantastic amount from NatWest. Their support over the past 18 months has been invaluable to the Hospice. We’ve seen a strong partnership develop with NatWest and we look forward to continue working together in 2016.”
The first fundraising event of the year will be the Charity golf day on Tuesday 17th May at Druids Heath Golf Club in Aldridge. For more information on the event you can contact kimberley.o’reilly@natwest.com.
