Birmingham Hospice has been named Community Builder 2026 at the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Awards in recognition of the successful Bulls in the City art trail.
Representatives from the hospice were presented with the accolade at a glittering evening hosted by the International Convention Centre, which honoured the good work of local organisations and businesses.
The spectacular public art trail, which ran for 61 days from July to September 2025, brought 128 beautifully designed bull sculptures to 88 locations across the city.

After two years of planning, partnerships, creativity and community involvement, the trail’s final fundraising total reached an incredible £241,935 net profit. It also welcomed more than 185,000 visitors to Birmingham and generated almost £5 million of economic impact for the city.
Rebecca Richards, Project Lead for Bulls in the City, said: “Bulls in the City was about so much more than fundraising. It showed what happens when a whole community gets behind something – artists, businesses, schools, volunteers, and visitors all playing their part.
“Winning the Community Builder award feels like a recognition of every single one of them.”
The hospice was also shortlisted for the Non-Profit Champion award for our work supporting local people in our hospice sites, local communities and shops.
Lucy Watkins, Birmingham Hospice Income Generation Director, said: “Winning this award reflects the collective effort behind Bulls in the City and the strong support we received from communities, businesses, schools and supporters across Birmingham.
“The trail brought people together from across the city, helping to raise awareness of Birmingham Hospice and the role hospice care plays in supporting local people and their families.
“Importantly, the funds raised through the campaign are helping us continue to provide specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with life-limiting illnesses across Birmingham and surrounding communities.”
