I’m passionate about my work, and have had a career spanning over 38 years in the specialism of palliative care, initially working as a Registered Nurse in the Inpatient Unit at Birmingham Hospice and in the community as a Macmillan nurse.
I had a change of direction 25 years ago when I studied to become a counsellor, specialising in bereavement support and counselling. I currently have the role of Clinical Supervisor with all hospice staff; together we work towards empowering each individual to be the best version of themselves, developing their skills and resilience while still maintaining compassion and self-care.
In later years I have also developed and delivered training programmes on bereavement, grief and mental wellbeing, educating the next generation of palliative specialists.
