Birmingham Hospice is looking for a part-time Senior Counselling Practitioner to join its wellbeing team.
The Wellbeing Team is a specialist therapeutic team working in the bereavement setting, helping people to help themselves. The Wellbeing Team consists of Adult/Children and a Spiritual service. We are a very friendly team who strive on professionalism and providing person centred care.
The Wellbeing Team also provide a high standard of research based clinical supervision to our staff, the service has grown in the past few years, this is an exciting opportunity to join because we are growing and developing as a team and service.
What You’ll do
- Provide a counselling service for patients and their families known to the Hospice both pre and post bereavement and also for bereaved clients outside of the hospice
- Support the Service Lead with operational service efficiency, data management information, colleague support and appropriate triaging and allocation.
- Identify the nature, severity and complexity of patients and families’ requirements through assessment to formulate and implement a plan for their care
- Maintain clinical records in line with the Hospices’ policies and procedures
What You’ll Bring
- Qualification in Counselling with advanced training in theory and practice of counselling
- Current registration with an approved, professional counselling body (e.g BACP)
- At least two models of psychological therapy and practitioner level knowledge
- Experience and understanding of the needs associated with loss, grief and bereavement
- Experience in managing team of counsellors
- Significant experience of supervising individuals or groups
- Knowledge of complex issues involved in therapeutic work within the field of palliative care
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Resilience, reliability and excellent communication skills
- Creativity for continuous improvement
