Thank you for your “tree-mendous” support and booking your Christmas Tree to be collected by our army of wonderful volunteers.

We know you may have a few questions about this year’s Tree Collection and Covid-19 so we have provided a few answers for you below.

  • I have booked my tree, what's next?

Thank you so much for supporting Birmingham St Mary’s & John Taylor Hospice and booking your Christmas Tree collection.

You should have received two emails after your donation, a receipt email and an email which contains your Treecycling Tag and all the information you will need to know for the collection weekend. These emails often go into your junk folder, so please do check if your folder if you have not received them.

If you haven’t received your emails after 24 hours, please contact the Treecycling team at and we can check your booking and send your tag to you.

  • When will my tree be collected?

Our collection weekend in Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th January 2022.

We cannot provide an exact time of when your tree will be collected so we ask that your tree is put outside ready to be collected, on the evening of Friday 14th January, as our volunteers will start early on Saturday morning. Then, at some point during the weekend, one of our volunteers will pick up your tree.

In the event that adverse weather conditions or COVID-19 affects our planned collection days, we will use the entire week of the 17th of January to collect all trees, which have been booked.

No matter what, we are committed to collecting your tree.

  • Where should I place my tree?

We kindly request that your tree is placed in a highly visible, safe location.

Under no circumstances are volunteers to enter your property (home, shed, back garden) to collect your tree. Ideally, where possible, trees are to be placed by the roadside for volunteers to collect safely.

  • Can I donate cash and have my tree collected on the day?

We are able to collect your tree for cash if you see us out and about on the day, but we cannot guarantee this, as our volunteers will be on specific routes. Therefore we recommend booking your tree with plenty of time to spare so you do not miss out. Bookings close on Monday 10th January at Midday.

  • Is it safe for volunteers to come and collect my tree?

We will continue to follow government guidelines regarding Covid-19 and should restrictions return, we will follow the guidance to ensure that the safety of you and our volunteers is our top priority.

  • I forgot to put my tree out, can you come back and collect it?

No. Each year our Treecycling campaign is growing and we are hitting our capacity for the amount tree’s that we can collect.

Therefore, we will be unable to return to collect your tree and we will not be able to offer a refund.

We kindly ask that you place your tree outside on the evening of Friday 14th January 2022, in a highly visible place to reduce the risk of your tree being missed by one of our volunteers.

  • Do you need anymore Volunteers?

Yes! We are always looking to expand our tree-mendous volunteer army and we would love to hear from you.
