After a landslide victory in the office vote, Weightmans Solicitors’ Birmingham office has officially named Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice as its charity of the year. A number of local charities and national charities were put forward for consideration but as many staff members have been directly supported by Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, the result was no surprise.
The partnership will last for 18 months, during which, as well as traditional fundraising activities like cake sales and dress down days, Weightmans will be doing its bit for the hospice by offering practical support. Weightmans staff plan to help out in the Day Hospice, work in our charity shops and will aim to offer legal expertise to families or patients in need of advice. You will also see Weightmans staff at our hospice events like Moonlight Memories and Light up a Life, where they’ll be helping us to keep everything running smoothly.
“Each of our staff members are given two paid days per year to do charity work” says Bhavesh Prajapati, Head of the Birmingham CSR committee, who works alongside committee members from all corners of the Birmingham office. “We have over 200 staff in the Birmingham office so we hope we can make a real difference through being on hand to do what we can to help”.
