It is with a heavy heart that we say a fond farewell to much-loved Therapy Dog Walter, who died peacefully over the weekend after a short illness.
Walter was a popular and soothing presence with patients, families and the team at the Living Well Centre based on our Selly Park site.
As a trained Guide Dog, he exuded a calmness which made our patients feel at ease and ensured he was perfect for the centre’s caring approach.
Our thoughts are with his owner and volunteer Roma, who will continue to bring fellow Therapy Dog Emily to the centre each week.
The team at the Living Well Centre put together a special display to commemorate all the memorable moments they had with Walter.
Lead Nurse Julie Bennett said: “Walter touched countless lives and hearts at the hospice.
“His calm nature brought comfort and companionship to patients, staff and families alike and he will never be forgotten.”
