Generous employees at a Halesowen car insurance firm have raised an impressive £5,570 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.
Staff at My Policy – which provides telematics smart boxes to monitor drivers and lower insurance premiums – raised the funds over the past 12 months, after choosing the Hospice as its first ‘Charity of the Year’ partner.
Fundraising activities included office decorating competitions during the World Cup, a fancy dress day for Halloween, and a cake bake tournament.
Amy Rushton, HR director at My Policy, said: “We were thrilled to partner with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice in 2018. Our dedicated Social Committee ran numerous fun staff events throughout the year and everyone at My Policy got involved for this fantastic cause.”
All funds raised by My Policy will go towards the Hospice, which provides vital care and support to local people and their loved ones who are living with life-limiting illness.
Charlotte Anson, corporate partnerships manager at the Hospice, added: “Thank you to all the big-hearted staff at My Policy for their fundraising efforts over the last year. £5,570 is an impressive amount and will make a big difference to the people, families, carers and loved ones we support. We’ve really enjoyed working in partnership with the firm, helping to raise much-needed funds for the Hospice, as well as educate staff about the vital care we provide.
“It costs £8 million each year to run Birmingham St Mary’s – over 60 per cent of which needs to come from voluntary donations – so we really do rely on the generosity of local businesses, like My Policy, to help fund our crucial services.”
Every day, Birmingham St Mary’s cares for 400 people who are living with life-limiting illness across Birmingham and Sandwell. Its expert team of healthcare professionals provides support in people’s homes, in the community and at the Hospice.
