This Hospice Care Week Birmingham Hospice is celebrating the work of our Retail Team, who play a vital role in raising funds to ensure we can provide palliative care for those with life-limiting illness.
We wanted to shine a spotlight on inseparable daughter and mother duo Tracy Height and Margaret Cosgrove, who have been helping customers for 16 years at Birmingham Hospice’s shops.

Tracy started at our Weoley Castle store, before opening the outlet in Quinton. She’s also managed the original Harborne and the Heeley Road shops.
But wherever she’s worked, her mother has been side-by-side to lend a supportive hand.
Now a Relief Assistant Shop Manager (RASM), she and Margaret can be found at the furniture store in Cotteridge.
“Everyone knows we’re a couple, we’re always together and everywhere I go people always ask how mom is, including customers and staff,” said Tracy.
“At Harborne, mum knew more customers than I did because I tended to work in the backroom. Mom would have lovely chats and people would even come into talk to mom.”
In total, they have worked together for 32 years, with Tracy formerly employed at a pharmacy in Bartley Green and then running her own store.
She was inspired to join the charity after her grandmother was cared for by the hospice.
Their partnership has only strengthened their already strong bond.
“Mom has got quieter as she’s got older but there’s been a few times over the years I have had to remind her who’s wearing the manager’s badge,” laughed Tracy.
Margaret added: “She will tell me off if I do something wrong every now and then, but otherwise we get on really well. Tracy’s always there for me.”
We salute you both for your amazing dedication to the charity.
Birmingham Hospice now has a diverse range of over 20 shops across the city, which you can find a full list of here.
