Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is urging people to take an eco-friendly approach to disposing their Christmas trees this year with its annual ‘Treecycling’ scheme in partnership with Fitzgerald Civil Engineering Contractors.
On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th January, an army of volunteers will be collecting real Christmas trees from homes across the city for recycling. In return for a minimum suggested donation of £10, trees will be collected and taken to Birmingham City Council’s household recycling centres where they will be turned into compost.
Sarah Barber-Jones, Community Fundraising Manager said: “This is a great way to avoid any hassle of taking Christmas trees to the local tip by letting us do the hard work instead. By signing up to the scheme you will be helping the Hospice provide vital care throughout the festive period for people with terminal illnesses within their local communities.”
Last year over 700 trees were collected raising over £8,500 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice in Selly Oak.
