Former Baggies stars will be returning to The Hawthorns this Saturday (30 September) to help raise vital funds for a local charity.
Brendon Batson, Cyrille Regis, Mick Fudge, and Derek Monaghan will be some of the stars bucket collecting at the home game against Watford, to show their support for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.
The West Brom legends are joining other volunteers to help raise bucket-loads of money for the Hospice, which provides vital care to local individuals and families living with terminal illness.
The past players will be collecting money at the beginning of the match from 1.30pm, and will be based at the Fanzone and in the Executive Boxes.
The collection is part of the Hospice’s ‘Big Brum Bucket Collection’ campaign – an annual event which sees hundreds of volunteers take to the streets of Birmingham and Sandwell to raise crucial funds for the charity. This year, supporters will be bucket collecting on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 September at a number of locations, including New Square in West Bromwich and Colmore Row in Birmingham.
Hamish Shilliday, head of fundraising at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “It’s fantastic to see former Baggies legends picking up a bucket and getting involved with our campaign this year.
“Every penny collected really does make a difference and it will help us to continue to provide our expert care at the Hospice, in people’s homes and in the local community. All our services are free of charge and so we rely on the generosity of local people – including West Brom’s brilliant fans – to ensure we can care for everyone that needs us, wherever they need us.
“Thank you to all our volunteers, including the Baggies stars, who will be supporting our Big Brum Bucket Collection this weekend. With your help, we can ensure that the best experience of living is available to everyone leading up to and at the end of life.”
