From 2nd – 31st March, local solicitors and will writers will be supporting Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice by offering a basic will writing service which typically costs £195 per will, for a suggested donation of £100 for a basic will and £120 for a mirror will.

You can leave your donation with the solicitor or will writer when you have your appointment, who will then pass it on to the Hospice. Please book direct with one of the below who are supporting this initiative for Birmingham St Mary’s…

You can take advantage of this limited offer whether you wish to write or amend a will and during your appointment you will be able to:

  • Make sure your family and friends are looked after
  • Choose who will be responsible for administering your estate
  • Protect your partner where you are not married or in a civil partnership
  • Ensure you don’t pay more Inheritance Tax than necessary
  • Leave a gift to a nominated charity, if you so wish

Of course we know that your family and friends will always be at the forefront of your mind when planning for the future. However, these days, after family and friends have been cared for, many people like to find a place in their will for a charitable cause.

At Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, 1 in 5 individuals and their families are cared for thanks to a gift being left in a will. If you leave something to charity in your will, then it won’t count towards the total taxable value of your estate. You can also cut the Inheritance Tax rate on the rest of your estate from 40% to 36%, if you leave at least 10% of your ‘net estate’ to a charity.

This year, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is celebrating 40 years of care across Birmingham and Sandwell. When the Hospice first opened in 1979, it could care for 25 people on any given day. Four decades later and the Hospice is supporting over 500 people every day, providing care in people’s homes, in the community, at its Day Hospice facility and at the Hospice’s Inpatient Unit.

Terms and conditions apply. Please note that if your estate is complex and a basic will will not suffice, your solicitor/will writer will outline what is required and indicate any additional costs that may be incurred. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
