Charity Stand Holder

Volunteer Role: Charity Stand Holder
Location: Various community locations across Birmingham
Commitment: Occasional – typically a few hours once a month
Reports to: Volunteer and Supporter Experience Coordinator

As a Charity Stand Holder, you’ll play an important part in representing Birmingham Hospice in the community. You will be typically working alongside a fundraising staff member. By hosting a stand at local supermarkets, shopping centres, or events, you’ll raise awareness about our care, share your connection to the hospice if you’d like to, and encourage donations from the public. Whether chatting to passers-by or simply holding a collection bucket, your time will help support local families and make a real difference. This is a relaxed, flexible role perfect for friendly and approachable volunteers who want to give back in just a few hours a month.

Key responsibilities:

  • Host a hospice stand in a public location for a few hours at a time.
  • Engage with members of the public in a warm and welcoming way.
  • Talk about the work of Birmingham Hospice (full briefing provided).
  • Hold a collection bucket and encourage charitable donations.
  • Represent the hospice in a positive and professional manner.
  • Return any collected donations securely as advise.

Whether you can spare one hour a week or one hour a month, we want to hear from you: fundraisevol@birminghamhospice.org.uk

  • A chance to support a local charity in a simple but powerful way
    • The opportunity to raise vital awareness in your community
    • Confidence in public engagement and speaking about the hospice
    • A flexible, social volunteering role that fits around your life

What we need from you:

  • Confident, friendly, and comfortable engaging with the public
    • Passionate about hospice care and happy to share your story, if applicable
    • Reliable and punctual
    • Able to travel to agreed stand locations (access to transport may be helpful for some sites)
    • Happy to work independently or in pairs, typically with a member of staff.
