Volunteer General Assistants (Catering) – Selly Park

Role: General Assistants – Catering
Reports to: Catering Manager

Role Days/Hours: Flexible, a couple of hours or mornings each week.

Location: Birmingham Hospice Selly Park, 176 Raddlebarn Road.

How you can make a difference: By providing freshly prepared meals and drinks for patients.

Why Birmingham Hospice needs you

We are looking for people to join us as volunteer General Assistants to support the Catering Team at our Selly Park Site for a couple of hours or mornings each week.

You will help provide drinks and beverages to the patients on our Inpatient Unit, particularly in the mornings assisting with our breakfast service.

Duties will include:

  • Serving water and drinks for patients on our wards.
  • Taking breakfast orders and distributing food and drinks to inpatients.
  • General cleaning and tidying up of the kitchen and canteen areas.

It is desirable that candidates have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, however Birmingham Hospice can support you with obtaining this.

You will need to be warm and friendly, a good listener, and be able to communicate well with our patients and their loved ones.
