At Birmingham Hospice, our retail shops do more than raise vital income – they bring our communities together and help us provide compassionate care to people living with life‑limiting illness.
We’re looking for a Retail Development Manager to play a key role in our retail growth journey, supporting new shop openings, retail events and existing teams to thrive.
About the role
Working closely with the Senior Retail Management Team, you’ll:
- Lead the operational delivery of new shop and pop‑up shop openings
- Recruit, induct and support shop staff and volunteers so they feel confident and valued
- Plan and deliver engaging retail and community events
- Provide hands‑on operational support to shops when needed
- Build strong relationships across retail, fundraising and community teams
- Use insight and data to drive improvement and maximise impact
This is a practical, people‑centred role where you’ll often be “on the ground”, leading by example and living our values every day.
About you
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience in retail management, ideally across multiple sites
- Proven experience opening and launching new retail locations
- A collaborative, supportive leadership style
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle priorities
- A passion for community engagement and purpose‑driven retail
- A full UK driving licence and ability to travel across Birmingham
- Experience in charity retail or event delivery is welcomed but not essential.
