At Birmingham Hospice, our patients are at the heart of everything we do. From our Inpatient Units to our Living Well Centres and bereavement counselling services, we are here for our community when they need us most.
We are launching our new 24/7 Specialist Palliative Urgent Response (SPUR) service, and this role will operate between 8pm and 8am, responding to urgent palliative care needs across Birmingham and Solihull.
As a Clinical Specialist Triage and Facilitator Nurse, you will be the first point of contact for all incoming calls to the service. A clinical leader, you will work autonomously and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat patients in their place of residence, ensuring timely and appropriate clinical responses.
You will provide expert palliative care support to patients and their families, offering sensitive communication and addressing their evolving physical, psychological, and spiritual needs. You will also be responsible for delegating clinical responsibilities, liaising with external services, supporting medical emergencies, and managing safeguarding concerns.
What we’re looking for:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) qualification (e.g. RGN)
- NMC Registration
- Independent prescribing qualification (V300) or equivalent specialist training
- European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care (or working towards)
- Advanced communication skills training
- High level of professional autonomy and critical judgement
