This service is designed to offer spiritual support to patients and their families/carers on our In Patient Unit and in our Day Hospice. The service provides extra support through the use of volunteers.

  • Can you remain calm and prioritise effectively under pressure and in highly emotive situations?

The Spiritual Care service will provide spiritual support to patients their families/carers. The successful candidate will enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and sensitively with patients, their families/carers of all faiths and none. You will work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team and participate in the overall holistic care provision for our inpatient and Day Hospice Services; you will manage a team of Spiritual Care volunteers developing links with other health care providers and faith leaders.

Key duties include: 

  • Leading volunteer recruitment and coordinating training
  • Organising and monitoring the work of Spiritual Care Volunteers
  • Collating service feedback and supporting on monthly project reporting
  • Supporting a wider multi- disciplinary team
  • Ensuring any safeguarding concerns are reported according to Hospice policies and procedures
  • Responding to complaints and complements and monitoring any trends

You should have a qualification in Volunteer Management (at least VRQ 3) or equivalent, good IT skills and knowledge of delivering social care services for adults. 

It is essential that you are an excellent communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence and able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the role which may include some out of hours working.
