HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT - HOSPICE AT HOME

PERMANENT POST

18 hours per week – 6 hour shifts 09.00-15.00 hours and 16.00- 22.00 hours; flexible working is essential to cover a 7 day a week service.

HOSPICE BAND 3 £15,967 - £19,523 per annum pro rata

Candidates must be car owners with a valid driving licence for the UK.

Birmingham St Marys Hospice ‘Hospice at Home’ service provides personal, social and emotional support to patients and their families at home. The aim of the service is to provide compassionate care, and to help avoid unnecessary and unwanted admission to hospital in the last weeks and days of life. The team are a part of an integrated community team and there will be opportunities to work across all community services.

This recruitment is to support the extension of this successful service into the evenings and the majority of shifts will be evening shifts from 16.00- 22.00 hours. We are seeking to recruit 4 Band 3 HCA’s

We are looking for emotionally intelligent and motivated HCAs who will assist in supporting excellent end of life care.

It is essential that successful candidates have NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and have relevant nursing experience of working with people with palliative care needs, within a community environment. Community or end of life care experience is essential and will need to be demonstrated in the application form.

There will be a comprehensive induction programme for this role.
