Day Hospice Reception and In Patient Unit Reception volunteer roles

Flexible 4hr shifts

Two very exciting opportunities have arisen to become volunteers for the hospice.  Both roles would suit anyone looking to further a career or gain experience within an admin role in the future.  You will be the face of the hospice and be an integral part of two very new services the hospice is providing. 

Day Hospice Reception volunteers – Mon-Fri

You will be the first point of contact into the hospice meeting and greeting visitors and staff to the hospice, providing support for all teams such as fundraising, marketing, sending out leaflets, dealing with post and ensuring our room booking service runs smoothly. 

You will need to be:

  • customer focused with a professional telephone manner,
  • IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft office, excel and email,
  • good organisational skills
  • adaptable/flexible approach to work,
  • good interpersonal skills,
  • excellent communication  skills,
  • ability to deal sensitively and appropriately with service users. 

Ward Clerk Volunteers Mon-Sun

You will form part of a newly established team of ward clerks, meeting and receiving patients, relatives, carers and clinical staff into the In Patient Unit. Being the first point of contact into the hospice

You will need:

  • Good interpersonal skills,
  • Adaptable/flexible approach,
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills,
  • ability to deal sensitively and appropriately with service users,
  • able to work in team environment,
  • enthusiastic,
  • friendly but sensitive manner
  • Be able to carry out admin tasks in a clinical area.
