Are you a nurse who wants to make a difference to the quality of end of life care in care homes in Birmingham?

We are launching a new care homes support service and looking for a highly skilled individual who is flexible, tenacious and enthusiastic about facilitating local care homes to improve end of life care for residents and their families.  The successful candidate would deliver workshops and follow up with regular visits to provide guidance and support to homes. To establish and embed sustainable tools and frameworks and measure how effective these are.

We are entering the second phase of a three year project and the Care Homes Nurse would need to be confident liaising with the multidisciplinary teams and other stakeholders as we develop the service and share knowledge with other professionals nationally and locally.

Teaching experience, excellent leadership and communication skills are imperative to make a success of this role.

Clinical expertise in end of life care is essential but, more important, is a willingness to provide care home staff with the opportunity to explore what they perceive are their strengths and challenges to providing end of life care and how best to improve their confidence and competence by promoting validated principles and tools.  Support, training and a dynamic learning environment will be provided.

Candidates need to be a level 1 Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and have a healthcare related degree or working towards one as well as a teaching/mentoring qualification.

A car owner and driver is essential.
